NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS

Hello ,

Okay, so I'm a big sucker for cats and kittens. As far as new beginnings, there's nothing like a kitten in the house to stir up the energy and get everyone laughing.

How is 2023 treating you so far? The numerology of the year is 2+2+3=7. Seven refers to the spiritual, so I expect that this may be an important year for spiritual growth. Those of us who write "woo woo" stories may dive a little deeper into the realms of spirit and magic, so expect to read some great new stories this year.

I recently read two books I loved, oldies but goodies, each containing novellas by four romance writers. Dragon Lovers (2008) features dragons, and every story spins a different twist on the theme. I'm now almost done with Irish Magic (2008) and find the stories enchanting and...magical.

2023 got off to a mellow start here in Pittsburgh after we almost got blown off the map by arctic winds for three days at Christmas. We started out the new year with overcast, rainy days that didn't inspire great accomplishments. Besides that, Mercury was retrograde and still is until January 18, a time I love because it's a three week interval to stop pushing forward, tie up all the loose ends, and take a breather. Keep in mind that there are snafus with communication, misunderstandings, and it's not the best time to sign contracts. But I still love it when it rolls around three or four times a year.

So let's just plan for a happy and prosperous 2023, full of fun, happiness, and joy. Let's plan on obstacles being small ones and the best answers appearing out of nowhere, like magic! And another hearty welcome to my new list members. Proud to have you here.

CELL PHONE HUNCHBACKS?

I remember the elegant chair massage gig I once did in downtown Pittsburgh at PPG Place, a mammoth building that looks like a glass castle. My work space was in a big conference room with a sweeping view of the city. Yet despite all this opulence, one disturbing fact emerged from the dozen office workers I massaged. Almost everybody had a neck hump, what we used to call dowager's hump. The upper neck and thoracic vertebra bend forward in an unnatural submissive curve. They got it, I suppose, from constantly hunching over to do their work.

So when I read about posture and spinal fractures in Bernadette Wulf's Healitall Newsletter, it made a lot of sense. By constantly looking down at our cell phones and other electronic devices, a forward head position can structurally distort our spines, call it tech neck, text neck, or neck hump. Yikes! WHAT'S THE RUSH? FIND YOUR NATURAL RHYTHM.

The faery realm, so I'm told, is a more imaginal, glowing space, more peaceful and brighter than our dense world. Faery beings are more in the flow of our Great Mother, the Earth.

Modern living, for the most part, has sped our lives up so much that we're no longer in synch with the Earth's rhythms. We're constantly pushing forward: striving, striving, working hard and expecting ourselves to produce. That's so wrong!

I (we) encourage you to find your own natural rhythm, to take pauses (like any great symphony), to slow the pace so you can enjoy your days. Watch how nature shifts and changes, how the light varies, how the seasons cycle around. Consider doing less and enjoying more. Pretty please.
