SEPTEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER

Our hummingbirds here in Pittsburgh are leaving to winter in Mexico or Central America. I have been studying Power Animals with the shamanic teacher Alberto Villoldo. He says that hummingbird, this tiny creature who shouldn't be able to fly, wings its way thousands of miles during its migration. It doesn't worry if it will have enough food, or will be attacked, or whether or not it wants to go. It just goes.

Hummingbird is all about the hero's journey, taking on a mission and seeing it through. What a synchronicity it is that I am launching my Lilith & the Faeries Series just as our hummingbirds begin their journey. It is a new beginning for me, as well. A heroine's journey to new and undiscovered people and places.

That was the working title when I wrote my first faery novel more than a few years ago, now Blue Moon over Madagascar. It started as a creative writing exercise in a class I was taking, and the other writers were enchanted by the beginning story of a woman who was approached by a faery in her garden. I didn't even believe in faeries, but before the first draft was completed, I saw them swirling behind our townhouse where the woods adjoined our yard.

I've had such fun writing, publishing, and marketing my books. And connecting with all of you!
